Sustainability in the Age of Consumerism

August 23, 2017 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Oxfam UQ Presents: Sustainability in the age of Consumerism

Welcome to our biggest sustainability event of the year! As Leonardo Dicaprio said “Climate change is real, and it’s happening right now”. Not all of us have an Oscar (congrats Leo!) but every one of us has the power to be more sustainable in our everyday life.

You’re invited to join Oxfam UQ for a night of speakers and an up-cycling workshop, where you’ll get to make reusable gift bags from recycled paper.

Introducing our speakers:

Dr Lilly Lim-Camacho
Lilly is a Senior Research Scientist at CSIRO, her area of speciality is Adaptive Urban and Social Systems. She will be speaking on the topic of how we think and act about sustainability and climate change.

AYCC (Australian Youth Climate Coalition) QLD
AYCC is Australia’s biggest youth-led movement, notably leading the successful #StopAdani campaign. A representative from the coalition will talk about the issues of climate justice and specifically, the Adani mines.

So come along to an evening of speakers and and enjoy an interactive workshop,  you will leave with more knowledge on sustainability AND a reusable up-cycled gift bag!
